Kinderstart Sues Google

Posted on Tuesday 4 April 2006

Kinderstart has put forward a lawsuit against the Google Search Engine for a dramatic drop in its search engine rankings after its hits from Google plummited by almost 60% from 10 million page views a month to just 3-4 million.

The lawsuit is based on Kinderstart alleging that Google is harming their website and using their search engine to give an edge to Kinderstarts competitors. Kinderstart is also attempting to make the case and has petitioned the district court to change the case to a class action lawsuit against Google.

What could happen next is anyones guess, the last time Google was sued for something similar to this was a few years ago when a business who sold Google PR (Pagerank) was kicked form the Google SERP’s. Google won the case based on the fact that they in their terms of service point out that they dont have to include anyone they dont want to and because it is a free service can activly kick websites out the index.

Although the case was lost the company involved made a lot of money and got a lot of exposure due to the media interest in the case.
