Google has relased a new piece of software for websites called Google Related Links which allows you to add targeted news and website links dynamically to your website much like an RSS feed works. The only problem I have with most of the Google tools you can install on your website is that they all use JavaScript and therefore the content doesnt show up in your pages… Google should really develop a new way of serving the adverts even if its including a PHP, ASP or Perl file, anything as long as it dumps out HTML and not JavaScript.
The discussion going on at WebmasterWorld at the moment seems to be geared already towards people complaining that it will lose them money however a valid point has been made by one user which was:
“Visitor looks at my site but isn’t finding what he/she is looking for (wasn’t the algo broken?). But hey, you know what, I have some related links, also prepared by google (they do deserve a second change, don’t they?)”.Money side apart surely good content and related links isnt going to harm your site too much, after all if a visitor isnt going to find what they are looking for then really there is no point in staying at the site, at least with the Google related links tool you can give them a nice sendoff.
